Chañaral Ortega-Miranda

Chilean composer, established in France since 1993, he is also Artistic Director of Discophiles Français and producer.

Combining an academic training with a living practice of oral tradition and popular music since his childhood, the music of Chañaral Ortega-Miranda is characterized by great freedom. He composes, among other, concert music, electronic music and film scores.

Studies.

His writing and composition studies began in 1989 with Ezequiel Izcovich and Alejandro Iglesias Rossi in Buenos Aires (Argentina), from 1993 to 2000 with his father Sergio Ortega in Pantin, France. Graduated in 2001 in the composition class of Ivan Fedele at the CNR of Strasbourg. He continued his training at the «Cursus annuel de composition et d’informatique musicale» of the IRCAM 2001-2002 where he worked with Philippe Leroux, Philippe Manoury and Tristan Murail.  

At numerous festivals such as the «Académie d’été de l’IRCAM», the «Centre Acanthes», the «Session de Composition de la Fondation Royaumont – Voix Nouvelles», he works, among others with Jonathan Harvey, Michael Jarrell, Zoltán Jeney, Peter Eötvos, Brice Pauset and Brian Ferneyhough.
